The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has extended the compliance date for menu labeling. After considering extensive input from industry, the original compliance date of May 5th, 2017 has been delayed until May 7, 2018.

The FDA will accept comments for 60 days, beginning on May 4th, so further input on menu labeling requirements can be considered. Specifically, the FDA is looking for comments on calorie disclosure signage for self-service foods, additional methods for disclosing calories other than on menus, and how to distinguish between menus and other materials presented to customers.
